Lawrence King, the 15-year old, self-identified gay student from Oxnard, California who was shot in the head by a classmate during school on Tuesday morning, was taken off life support Thursday night. According to the LA Times, the shooting, which left King braindead, is now being called a hate crime by local prosecutors. The suspect, 14 year-old Brandon McInerny, could face more than 50 years to life in prison if convicted as an adult on murder and hate crime charges.
