After 42 state and territorial contests, which have yielded Barack Obama a modest lead in pledged delegates over Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination, Democratic voters have made their decision: They want both of them.
That's why this race is effectively deadlocked and, barring a moment of high drama, will remain so for months, to the great benefit of Republican presidential nominee John McCain.
The notion of a "dream team" of Clinton and Obama on the same ticket, dismissed as fanciful when Clinton appeared unbeatable as recently as January, is taking on an air of inevitability.
